چکیده

The ultimate goal of stem cell technology is to generate and expand cells that can be used in human diseases and regenerative medicine. Diseases that might benefit from cell therapy include but are not limited to the juvenile diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, myocardial necrosis, spinal cord injury, and nonunion fractures. Two major sources for human cell therapy have been adult stem (AS) cells and embryonic stem (ES) cells. Major achievement was made to generate pluripotent stem cells by inducing pluripotency in cells obtained from patients, and treat patients with patient reprogrammed cells. In this review we discuss sources and recent techniques for inducing pluripotency in cells for using in clinic and we will review concerns regarding potential undesired consequences of cell therapy with reprogrammed cells. *Corresponding Author: Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Center, Tehran University of Medical Science, Shariati Hospital, North Kargar Street, 14114 Tehran, Iran. Stem Cell Fate Analysis Revisited: Interpretation of Individual Clone Dynamics in the Light of a New Paradigm of Stem Cell Organization

Many experimental findings on heterogeneity, flexibility, and plasticity of tissue stem cells are currently challenging stem cell concepts that assume a cell intrinsically predefined, unidirectional differentiation program. In contrast to these classical concepts, nonhierarchical self-organizing systems provide an elegant and comprehensive alternative to explain the experimental data. Here we p...

P-92: Assessment of Stem Cells in Adult Mouse Ovaries during Estrous Cycle

Background: The concepts of reproductive biology were changed by stating the ovarian reserve in postnatal mammalian females is replenished. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of OCT4 in the mice ovarian tissue during different stages of mouse estrous cycle. Materials and Methods: The mice were considered as pro-estrous, estrous, met-estrous and di-estrous based on the cell ...

Mesenchymal Stem Cells Derived from Rat Epicardial Versus Epididymal Adipose Tissue

Objective(s) Some investigation has indicated that adipose-derived stem cells possess different surface epitopes and differentiation potential according to the localization of fat pad from which the cells were derived. In the present study proliferation capacity and aging of such cells were explored. Materials and Methods Adherent cells were isolated from the collagenase digests of adipose tiss...

Blastema from rabbit ear contains progenitor cells comparable to marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells

Rabbits have the capacity to regenerate holes in their ears by forming a blastema, a tissue that is made up of a group of undifferentiated cells. The purpose of the present study was to isolate and characterize blastema progenitor cells and compare them with marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Five New Zealand white male rabbits were used in the present study. A 2-mm hole was created in the a...
